Do you think there should be laws protecting people from spam email?

Robert B asked:
I have never bought anything from a spam email and I never will. The people who send them out waste peoples time and money. I don’t understand why it shouldn’t at least be regulated. Often times I want to respond to tell them not to send me anymore and you can’t contact them, or even worse they send you more spam.
I own several websites and receive up to 80 spam emails a day. I don’t feel protected. I have spam protection, before that existed I would get as many as 200 a day. I have tried and can’t stop most of them, plus who has the time?

There already are laws protecting people from spam. Advertisers are required to provide a link in the email to unsubscribe or opt-out from their emails. Its usually almost impossible to find, however, and it takes about a month for them to stop sending you emails.
The United States government has done a very good job of stopping spam. Next time you get a spam email, check the source for the IP address. Look up that IP address and 99.9% of the time it will be a foreign IP.
